1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

  • Date(s): Ongoing
  • Who: Infants through pre-K welcome.
  • Registration Necessary: Yes Registration Starts: In-person, ongoing

Launch your child's love of life-long reading! Join the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program and encourage the development of your child's early literacy skills by reading with your child.

It is easy to participate! Randolph cardholders may sign up for the program at the library. You will receive a book bag with all the materials you need to begin. You will receive a log to keep track of the number of titles you read. Color in an apple for each book. For every 50 books, your child will receive a sticker. Bigger prizes will be awarded at different milestones. Does your child have that one book they want to read over and over again? You may repeat titles as often as your child likes.

No need to be scared of the numbers! Just think of it this way: If you read one book every night for 365 days, you will have 365 books completed in a year. In 2 years you will have read 730 books. You will have totaled 1,095 books in 3 years!

Note: While the library is closed, you do not need library reading logs to keep track of your books. Any way you track your reading will be fine.
