Animal Shelter
Overview
The new Randolph Regional Animal Shelter, located in nearby Mendham's India Brook Park on Ironia Road, is a 4,200 square feet municipal facility featuring 26 dog runs, 8 separate cat kennels and dedicated isolation and quarantine rooms with a separate HVAC system to prevent the spread of disease.
Formerly part of the Seeing Eye's kennel facilities, the regional shelter-which is also home to Randolph Township Animal Control operations-also serves the towns of Mendham Township, Mendham Borough, Rockaway Borough and Dover.
It is operated by township staff and a core group of dedicated volunteers who have made it their mission to provide humane care for stray, abandoned and injured animals. To that end, although every animal taken in receives the best care possible, the ultimate goal of shelter personnel is to find a loving, stable home for each animal in its care.
This is where you can help. If you are contemplating the addition of a four-legged furry friend to your family, why not give one of these animals a second chance? The adoption procedure is a simple one and the adoption fee is a nominal $50.
Pets available for adoption may be seen at the shelter or previewed online on the Petfinder website. Information regarding volunteering and donations may also be found on this external website.
Join the Friends of Randolph Animal Pound
The Friends of Randolph Animal Pound is a group of individuals who advocate for homeless animals by providing support services for the shelter. Membership is open to residents of all communities. The Friends serve the cause by raising funds for veterinary services and by contributing and soliciting dog and cat food, bedding, toys, and other items needed by shelter "residents." Some of the members help out on adoption days, serve as dog walkers or act as foster parents for kittens who need to be socialized before they are ready to be adopted into their forever homes.
The Friends is a registered non-profit organization that needs your help. If you are interested in joining, please email Claudine or call 973-886-1485.
Directions: From Dover-Chester Road in Randolph, make a left onto South Road. Make a left onto Ironia Road. See signs for India Brook Park on left.
