In April 2021, the Randolph Township Police Department will proudly join the growing ranks of law enforcement agencies that deploy body worn cameras on police officers. These cameras will be utilized in accordance with the guidelines established by the New Jersey Attorney General and the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.
This new technology will help us enhance and improve our relationship with our citizens. We believe that effective policing is achieved through our strong partnerships with all of our community stake holders.
Body worn camera
Body worn cameras (BWC) video is similar to video from a cell phone camera. The body worn cameras will be affixed to an officer's uniform. The cameras will point away from the officer and it will capture images in the camera's field of vision. Citizens who interact with police officers will be recorded on body camera video.
